Outdoor Adventure Program
The Outdoor Adventure Program at Kweebec offers both outdoor education and environmental education for all ages. The program provides an opportunity for individual and team building and the chance to explore nature in a fun way while being challenged both mentally and physically. Spread out over 150 acres of diverse ecosystems that maintain a variety of wildlife, campers are allowed to discover all that the outdoors has to offer. Our Outdoor Adventure Program provides a safe and fun environment where campers can strive and grow in positive ways.
Outdoor Education:
Safety is the main concern for all activities. Proper safety, spotting, and belay techniques are used. All techniques and equipment follow industry standards and are checked regularly for safety by our certified staff.
The Low Ropes Challenge Course: Campers participate in a variety of activities that promote teamwork, cooperation, and trust. The course includes group initiative problems and action socialization exercises as well as traditional rope course elements. Some challenges include: All Aboard, Nitro Crossing, Acid River, Inversion, games, relays, and physical challenges.
The High Ropes Course: Campers climb into trees and navigate through challenging obstacles while always suspended on belay. Our high ropes course is a challenging and exciting series of events 40 feet off the ground. Trained staff members lead campers of all ages through the Burma Bridge, Catwalk, Multi-rope Traverse, Zip-Line, or any of the other additional elements. Campers can participate in the ropes course alone or with their bunkmates. The high ropes course provides challenges for all ages and many opportunities to develop campers’ ability to work as a team.
Environmental Education:
The environmental aspect of our Outdoor Adventure Program has expanded to take full advantage of our diverse terrain and various ecosystems. Each area incorporates a wide array of activities and lessons as campers gain an appreciation of their surroundings and learn more about what makes up the world around them. The environmental program is based around the following areas:
-Aquatic Studies
-Terrestrial Studies
-Environmental Awareness
-Sensory Awareness
-Interdependence
-Environmental Responsibility
We feel that these areas will best allow campers to understand their own direct and indirect influence on the environment and how that impact affects other organisms. Environmental awareness allows campers to evaluate and change their points of view and learn to see their surroundings in a whole new perspective. Every aspect of this program alters perspective and highlights different senses opening new frontiers of observation.
